Babydoll is sent to a mental hospital by her own father after he (more or less accidentially) kills her younger sister, and now the older needs to be silenced as well -- through a lobotomy. Yet, as she arrives, she takes note of four items she needs to escape, and then retreats into an alternate reality inside her head where the facility becomes a brothel, and Babydoll is the new dancer. She convinces four fellow inmates, who become her friends, to help her with her escape plans. And everytime Babydoll dances, so the group can receive one of the items, she envisions the women as soldiers on a mission.

Uncovered:

This was one awesome ride. If I'd watched it without reading the summary first, it would've totally confused me, because there's not just two, but three layers to reality. I think it could've been interesting on the first level, the mental facility, because I would've loved to see the sessions and dynamic among inmates and docters happen. But I doubt it would've been much fun if it had been purely in Babydoll's brothel layer. The best parts were the all out full screen missions, that was just awesome, I especially loved Babydoll's katanas *drools* and The Wise Man in general (or as general ^.^). It was also cool to see which parts exactly ended up in the top level reality.

And it was tragic! Oh, I loved that ending! I got very emotional while watching the good guys not just fail, but fall. Although it was already hinted in the beginning, I would've never bet on that outcome.

Warm Bodies & Beautiful Creatures Movies

Book to Movie -- Warm Bodies

When I watched that trailer, I laughed so hard. R seems like an absolutely lovable character, and I like that Teresa Palmer is playing the female lead, Julie. I really enjoyed watching her in I Am Number Four, she's just an awesomely badass Number Six. I also recognized John Malcovich who's starring as Julie's father and general, and Analeigh Tipton who's playing Julie's friend, Nora. Recognizing part of the cast is always a plus for me, I like to draw comparisons to former experiences.

But it's not just the cast, the story sounds interesting too. Well, mainly it sounds very, very funny based on the cast, and the scenes shown in the trailer. I'm pretty sure this movie will very nice to watch, even if you don't know the book, and I'm dying to have it in theaters! However, I'm also going to buy and read the book before that happens. This is going to be a blast!

Book to Movie -- Beautiful Creatures

I've seen the book around and thought the story sounded fairly interesting, I even liked the simplicity of the covers. So when a friend of mine told me to watch the trailer below, I was on. I didn't recognize any of the actors, so my interest wasn't piked on that front, but that doesn't mean anything. I'm definitively going to buy and read that first book before the movie comes out in February 2013.

Area Info

Calder White lives in the cold, clear waters of Lake Superior, the only brother in a family of murderous mermaids. To survive, Calder and his sisters prey on humans and absorb their positive energy. Usually, they select their victims at random, but this time around, the underwater clan chooses its target for a reason: revenge. They want to kill Jason Hancock, the man they blame for their mother's death.
It's going to take a concerted effort to lure the aquaphobic Hancock onto the water. Calder's job is to gain Hancock's trust by getting close to his family. Relying on his irresistible good looks and charm, Calder sets out to seduce Hancock's daughter Lily. Easy enough, but Calder screws everything up by falling in love--just as Lily starts to suspect there's more to the monster-in-the-lake legends than she ever imagined, and just as the mermaids threaten to take matters into their own hands, forcing Calder to choose between them and the girl he loves.
One thing's for sure: whatever Calder decides, the outcome won't be pretty.
