Damn, I really made it through my third year, huh? That's kinda awesome, since I have seen a few of my favorite blogs shut down, and that made me feel a little lost, because I'm not that good at making friends through the blogosphere, I guess. So even after three years, it still feels like I'm celebrating with myself mostly. No offense to all of you guys! There are alot of awesome blogs out there, and I know mine is far from being top of the line, so I totally understand if you spend more time somewhere else. It's not a big deal, and this isn't me whining about not enough page views or whatever.
Honestly, it's not. Blogging has become such an important part of my daily life, basically a routine, and I love doing it just because. I don't care so much for the numbers (but they are awesome, just so you know). I'll let you know, I'm just kinda glad I didn't actually forget my blogoversary this year. Yes, I confess, the post last year was an "OMG, that was TODAY?!" kind of thing. It's because I'm generally not thinking of birthdays as a big deal anymore, only if there is a 5 or 0 involved. So I guess I'll be having a big freak out party in two years, then. x)
But what I'm happy about, and what I am most definitively celebrating this year!, is that this blog is not something I started with excitement, and then quit because it wasn't what I expected it to be -- like I do with a lot of things. I took some time away from it, sure, but I think everyone's entitled to that, right? So here's to three years not quitting, and to still loving this baby and wanting to move forward with it. Cheers!
Oh, and I posted my 200th review only last month. That's also a number to celebrate, right? =)
As a total lover of all the Marvel characters, although I only know the most common ones, and especially the movies, I'm on top of the world and over the moon to see a non-animated TV show spring from their universe. Nothing short of awesome could come from people who know how to work sci-fi action and conspiracy.
Other than some fancy new-age technology and some action, I had no expectations for the series at first. Still, the first few episodes felt disconnected to me, and I was a little like meh... but I had the same feeling with some other first seasons too, and once the first threads came together, I got over it. Glad I did, because it turned out even better than I could've imagined.
Fitz-Simmons were simply adorable together, and I loved how they always came as a package-deal. It was funny how Ward didn't know who was who, and how he didn't always (want to) understand their bio-tech babbling because he was the hands-on type. It was overall a very good team dynamic which I loved very much.
I totally saw that one coming (who didn't?!), and I LOVED it! I think Skye and Ward make a couple just as perfect as Fitz-Simmons! So I just cursed all the more when I found out about Ward... I hope they'll get a second chance, though. Because I don't believe Ward's feelings were just pretend, and that he's not really an off-the-rails lunatic without any morals.
Booking Through Thursday is a weekly bookish meme about (mostly) books and reading.
When you travel, do you bring one book with you? Or a pile of them? Or do you use an e-reader to help carry the load?
(Because, even if you prefer paper, it can get heavy when you’re traveling!)
Before I had an e-reader, I always travelled with two or three books. I tried to pick paperbacks, because of the weight, but sometimes it just had to be a hardcover, because I was reading on a series at the moment, or something. My older sister was the same, and my parents also each had a book with them, so that never came up in an argument or anything.
Now what I have my Kindle, I usually just pack that, because it's convenient in weight and selection, even if it means leaving a print book I'm currently reading behind. I especially like that I no longer have to pick out what to read beforehand, because I have so many books stored on my Kindle. Moody reader that I am, now I can just open and start reading whatever it is a I want in that moment, on the beach or in the hotel. However, I kinda miss finding sand in between my pages, and a print book is a lot better to sleep on, coz the e-reader is so thin. x)
Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
by Raine Thomas
Series: Estilorian 7
Expected Publication: July 24, 2015
When the elders imprisoned Metis, they took every precaution to protect the Estilorian plane against her evil.
It wasn’t enough.
Now she’s escaped, and no one is safe. Fueled by hatred, she wastes no time imposing vengeance on those who captured her. She knows the surest way to destroy their lives is by taking what they love most, and she begins with a child named Eden.
Years later, Eden remembers none of her former life. She serves her “Master,” unaware of the family still searching for her. But as her eighteenth birthday approaches, memories begin to surface, and she questions her circumstances for the first time.
Eden’s confusion mounts when she’s joined by Connor, a handsome Elphresti male who reveals things that shatter her reality. They’ll end up on the run, knowing they can trust only each other. After all, Metis will stop at nothing to get them back, and she thrives on her ability to deceive.
Why I am waiting on this? I'm not up to date on the series at all, but Raine Thomas is one of my favorite authors, so I promote everything she writes. Her Estilorian world is pretty big and a little complicated with the names and colors/abilities, but that's just what makes it amazing fantasy!
