About the Author
Here are ten things you probably really want to know about me:
I grew up a faculty brat. I can swear like a sailor. I love men in uniform. I hate being told what to do. I can do your taxes (but don’t ask). The Bird Market in Hong Kong freaks me out. My favorite word is desperate… or dirty, or both—I can’t decide. I have a thing for muscle cars. But never rely on me for driving directions, ever. And I have a new book boyfriend every week—don’t tell my husband.

So this baby released yesterday, and I'm all giddy to have an ARC for the upcoming tour (stops by here on Sept 18!). Blaze and Layna are one hot mess! But I'm also looking forward to see Talon and the other badass soldiers again. ^^
EXCERPT / Teaser Tuesday
Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by MizB @ A Daily Rhythm.
“I have to catch an early flight.”
“I don’t want you to leave.” I held it together, barely.
Swirling questions, breaking heart, I wasn’t ready for this. “Five more minutes.” We’d discussed nothing.
“I can’t miss my flight.” Blaze stood.
I swallowed back the crushing reality and sat up. “Okay, I’ll be dressed in a second.”
His hand hit my shoulder. “Stay. Talon’s taking me. Go back to sleep.”
It felt like a slap in the face. “You don’t want me to go to the airport?” The seed of doubt grew into a mountain.
“Stay,” was all he said.
“What’s going on?”
His hands went to his hips and he glanced down before bringing his gaze back to mine. “Trying something new.”
I didn’t want new. “Why?” I wanted the Blaze who’d swept me off my feet in a dingy apartment building hallway after giving me his real smile for the first time.
Ignoring my question, he leaned over and left a chaste kiss on my cheek. “Thank you for last night.” He stared for half a second with an unreadable expression then he turned and walked out.
I sat there, stunned.
Talon’s car fired up.
My eyes drifted to the dresser. A small black box sat in the corner. Untangling myself from the sheets, I picked it up and opened it.
I began to shake.
Even in the predawn light, it sparkled like an engagement ring should.
I was running to the front door before I could throw clothes on but I was too late.
Talon’s taillights hit A1A and Blaze was gone.
