There is no turning back now.

Glory St. Pierre never thought so many lies could hold so much truth, especially when her entire life has been one of those lies. Now that she knows who she really is, she must find a way to come to terms with it before the Djinn sorcerer Rasputin and his steel army descend down upon the human and Djinn realms, wielding magic so dark even her own Djinn lover, Irving, is wary of it.

Their only hope to save the realms are a couple of hunters and the Lords of the Djinn Order, four powerful Djinn who have remained elusive for centuries. Armed with her only granted wish, a fabulous airship, and the Djinn she loves by her side, Glory will embark on a quest to find the four lords and enlist their help. But there is a reason the lords have been in hiding, and once this tiny band of adventurers awakens them from their slumber, they will set off a chain of events that has been in the making since the beginning of time.

Rogue Chronicles Entry

I hate to say it, but this is a case of 2nd Book Bum for me -- all because Glory has to act like a petulant child. I liked her snark and sass in Wish For Me, and there's nothing wrong with standing your ground and being a tad selfish -- that's totally human, and it made her so real to me. However, this was too much, starting from annoying all the way to pissing me off.

Glory suddenly turned into your run-of-the-mill heroine who has to compare herself to all the other females she encounters, wondering how she could possibly be enough for her above-average Djinn. Urgh! It always came back to that, and it made her unreasonably eogitistic, trying so hard not to be left behind because she didn't know the full extent of her powers yet, thus making her take risks and keep secrets and just... making wrong choices at every turn, like I would've never expected her to. Pathetic.

I loved all the other new characters, though. I see some fun and more romance all around, but also some heartfelt, un-cliched drama with all three Djinn boys. I hope I'm right. Btw, loved to get a chapter from Irving's PoV, and hope there'll be more. I have to say, though, I wanted to kick him at some points, but I think his reasons for keeping certain secrets are/might be a lot more valid than Glory's.

Since Glory put a damper on my mood for the whole read, so I couldn't fully get into all the new action popping up. That magic map was totally badass, Rasputin visiting Glory in her dreams was creepy and disgusting, and all those secrets laying about in the field like mines would probably make for some good plot twists later on if they didn't have epic drama written all over them. I can already see it blowing up, and the make-up sex is definitvely not going to be hot enough to compensate for those major fuck-ups.

Generally, I didn't feel much of anything happend plotwise. It was a bit like rolling in a circle, catching on pointy twists and stabs to rip, and tear, and get everything more messy. However, that last bomb? Awesome! So yes, I still want to keep reading the series, convinced there will be not just more tangles in the next book, but also some answers and real development.
