Goodreads Blurb: Cassia has always trusted the Society to make the right choices for her: what to read, what to watch, what to believe. So when Xander's face appears on-screen at her Matching ceremony, Cassia knows with complete certainty that he is her ideal mate... until she sees Ky Markham's face flash for an instant before the screen fades to black.
The Society tells her it's a glitch, a rare malfunction, and that she should focus on the happy life she's destined to lead with Xander. But Cassia can't stop thinking about Ky, and as they slowly fall in love, Cassia begins to doubt the Society's infallibility and is faced with an impossible choice: between Xander and Ky, between the only life she's known and a path that no one else has dared to follow.

My Review:

This book was shoved into my hands by my sister, and while she was describing the plot to me a little, I didn't really think I'd like it. Controll-freaky utopian societies are not to my liking, but since I am also currently reading The Hunger Games, I thought I should give it a shot regardless. And I'm glad I did.
It had everything I thought a 'perfect' society should have: food control, breeding, set dates for death... A perfectly clean hell. The characters fitted perfectly as well. Ky being the boy with the rough past who knows that this perfection is nothing but a mask, and it's inhuman; Cassia who finds her world shatter to pieces more and more, then becoming a rebel despite her wishing that what she grew up with was the truth, because it's a passion deeply engraved in her blodline; and Xander being the smart boy who finds the truth by himself, who knows he can trust his instincts, and who risks everything for the girl he loves. It's nothing new, I guess, but I still thought it played through just awesome. Sure, at some point or another, I thought Cassia should stop being such a chicken and just accept what her instincts tell her, what she has been taught by the people she loves: that this society was to be challenged, outsmarted. That would've shortened the book considerably x), but I guess because it took her longer to realize, it just strenghtens her resolve now.
I especially liked the ending! I never thought Cassia and Ky would end up like this, that really caught me off guard. I hope it's just for now, and I can't wait to get my hands on that second book...
