But they aren’t the only ones heeding the call. A group of hunters notices them gathering and sees it as their chance to wipe out the entire species.

Seth is about to graduate high school when he learns of the final hunt. He secretly plans to save Rylie and his werewolf brother even though he has to play along with the hunters to do it. HEE Summary:

Rylie still has silver poisoning left over, so it's hard for her to control her shift. Abel is trying to help her, looking out for her just like Seth wanted, but she shuts everybody out. Then Bekah goes missing, and the wolves discover that they all had dreams about Gray Mountain, and an urge to go there.

Of course the werewolf hunters have picked up that they are migrating, and move along to prepare to wipe them all out in a final battle. Eleanor has joined the Union, a very well-equipped and well-financed organisation of hunters, and she tried to recruit Seth as well. Seth declined, but then joined so he could get to Gray Mountain in time to save the wolves with his intel.

On the mountain, Seth finds Bekah, and helps her conceal that she is a wolf, since the hunters go by the rule to only kill who they have confirmed to be wolf, as in saw them shift once. Rylie has a run-in with some other wolves, and shifts in front of the Union's cameras, so they now are after her. Rylie feels responsible for the other wolves she meets on the mountain, and tries to get them as safe from the hunters as she can.

Eleanor breaks free from the Unions watch and kills everything that's not in Union uniform, mad as a hatter. Seth, in turn, tries to hunt her. He also reunites with Rylie... in the most physical way. The reunion with his brother isn't quite as heart-felt, but after a little fight they are all good.

To get the wolves safely to the top of the mountain, Seth togehter with Bekah and Rylie in wolf form, destroy the Union's equiment, leaving them blind to go after a large number of wolves. In the final fight, Eleanor wants to kill Rylie before she can be chosen to be the Alpha, but her willingness to sacrifice herself is what has the gods save her. She kills Eleanor, then shifts all the wolves back to their human form, right under the full moon, and has a message from the gods for the hunters: go now, and you live. She's the Alpha of the remaining wolves now, and promises not to turn any new wolves, so the hunters should let them live in peace -- or they could fight it out right here, right now, and the wolves will win.

It ends without further bloodshed. Seth graduates with honors and is accepted into all the universities he applied for, so he can pick his new life. Rylie, now in full control of her shift, is going back to school. Her aunt Gwyn's farm is bought by the witches to make a new santuary for the new wolves.
