Goodreads blurb: After a horrible accident claims the lives of her family, sixteen-year-old Ever Bloom can see people's auras, hear their thoughts, and know someone's entire life story by touching them. Going out of her way to avoid human contact and suppress her abilities, she has been branded a freak at her new high school-but everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste.
Damen is gorgeous, exotic, and wealthy. He's the only one who can silence the noise and random energy in her head-wielding a magic so intense, it's as though he can peer into her soul. As Ever is drawn deeper into his enticing world of secrets and mystery, she's left with more questions than answers. And she has no idea who he really is-or what he is. The only thing she knows to be true is that she's falling deeply and helplessly in love with him.

After Ever found out that Damen had lived way longer than she thought, she thinks he's a vampyre and wants nothing to do with him anymore. Since he is persistent in explaining everything to her, he tells her that he is not a vampyre, but an Immortal - no blood involved. But all this is too much for ever to process, she envelops herself in so much anger that he actually believes her when she tells him she hates him, to leave her and that she never wants to see him again. Without Damen, Ever's life is back to being an explosion of colors and thoughts and feelings. Yet, she's trying to act normal, and goes to a festival with Miles and Haven; afterwards they (illegally) drink on the beach. Ever discovers that the alcohol drowns out all the mess she's receiving from others, so she becomes addicted. When Ever gets caught drunk on school grounds, she is suspended from school.
Then comes December 21. Ever remembers that Haven said something about midwinter and a party. Furthermore, the feather she wore with her Halloween costume that Damen had taken, lays in her room - he had been there. Reminded of him, she looks at the picture her art teacher had given her, but instead of the blond maiden she was expecting, it showed the canyon she'd seen in her dream. Without knowing why, Ever just takes off, her instincs guiding her there. Turns out she arrives just a stone's throw away from the actual midwinter party. But Drina gets her before Ever can make it to Miles and Haven. Drina admits that she is an Immortal and is trying to kill Ever because Damen chose her over herself. In fact, she killed her in all her previous lives as well. But while Drina plays her game with Ever, Damen manages to save her by drawing her into Summerland, a world in between the worlds. There Ever gets a few more answers, things about his past and about his immortality, but the most important being that she is an Immortal too, that he made her one the day he saved her.
After leaving Summerland, Ever awakes at home. Her (ghost) sister Riley shows up, telling her to visit the psychic Ava, because he could help her. Reluctantly, Ever visits her. Ava teaches Ever to construct a shield to block out the feelings and thoughts that always storm around her. Ever is totally drunk on 'ordinariness', and Ava warns her that she said farewell to the wrong person - that she should let Riley move on and return to Damen. It takes Ever some time to realize that Ava was right, and after and argument and tears as well as laughter, Riley finally leaves, reassuring her that the accident was not her fault at all and that she should take and live the life she was given. Knowing she made the right choice this time, Ever collects herself to call Damen. She (finally) looks up the meaning of red tulips - undying love. She calls, but instead of Damen, Drina shows up to finish her off once and for all. Ever learns a final, dreadful truth: it was Drina that caused the accident, she killed her family. In the following fight, Drina seems to have the upper hand, but when Ever deals a helpless punch full of warm emotions that hits Drina's heart, it destroys her. Then Damen shows up, and Ever starts her new, immortal life by finally confessing to him.
Alright... I kinda get the feeling I went overboard, but oh well. I find all the details important too, so... forgive me there. ^^
