In Her Shoes is a bookish meme invented by Vanya at YA Story Teller. To participate, simply put yourself in the shoes of a heroine you've recently read about, and then tell what you thought of her, what you would do in her stead, or what you've learned from her.
Ever was as plain as they come, a very standad female lead, full of insecurities. And while that goes on your nerves majorly in the beginning, you later learn that there is a deeper meaning to it, giving her character as a whole new depths, which make her basically a masterpiece.
As her story goes on, Ever has to face many things and learn some ugly truths. She's not the best to handle them, either. Her insecurities and bad judgement are a weakness right to a fault, and that makes matters always worse for herself and others. Every time she makes a decision, it turns into a catastrophe. Seriously, she should've make someone lock her up for her own good. But feisty stubborn fighter that she is, she believes that she's always in the right.
Well, although it cost a lot of eye rolls to get there, in the end, Ever redeemed herself in a way that made her almost a new person. That she, after all the mistakes, had the strength to overcome her greatest weakness and safe herself in this manner is a level not something many characters ever reach. I guess that's what makes her truly great, and the ultimate human being.
Link up and let me know whose shoes you stepped into this week! =)
