In Her Shoes is a weekly bookish meme hosted by Vanya at YA Story Teller. To participate, simply put yourself in the shoes of a heroine you've recently read about, and then tell what you would do in her stead, or what you've learned from her.

Featuring this week:
Auraya from The Age of the Five Trilogy

Oh how I despise her! For all of you who don't know that trilogy, here a short intro to Auraya's character: She was chosen to be one of the five leaders of a religious group, very powerful with magic, who serve a set of five gods. However, for disobeying their gods, she gets removed from her post later, yet keeps her gifts to some extent. As she finds out that one of the goddesses of the Five wants her killed, and despite knowing some of their evil deeds during an earlier era (where they killed other gods until they were the only ones left), she is a strong believer and will serve her gods as long as it aligns with her own peaceful believes.

Now, in the last book I just finished, she really topped everything. How can someone be so blind with love and obedience? I would've allied with the wild mages a long time ago, especially when one of them is my former lover who I actually trust. To her defence, I have to say her faith in her favorite god, who also used to be her lover, woho!, was only half misplaced. But still, I would've chosen differently, but I'm kind glad for her that she didn't have to deal the last strike to that evil disaster. But that it took her so long - and to almost die, more than once! - for her to chose that last step and actually take a side... tsk, unbelievable. More luck than brains, really, that she even got to survive and was thus able to even make her choice for the final.
