Rogue Chronicles Entry No. 103
Yes, here I am, starting a whole new series yet again. I just heard so much good and the first volume just hopped into my arms in the book store, so... I couldn't resist to take it home with me. 😉 And when I started reading, I had all these pretty high expectations, and... well, for that, I am not that convinced yet.
The whole story started out rather slow for my tastes, although there were some more loaded dots, but still alot character introdution and not so much plot yet, but okay, it's a first insallment. But as you get over the first half, all the action kicks in. Big time! Since we were floating along the plotline all through the beginning, I wouldn't have expected the action to come in heaps then. It's like it tripped over itself, and it was good! It was also pretty emotional, I wouldn't have expected that, either.
Especially through that second half, I fell in love with the characters. The brothers, Beth, Butch and Marissa. It was such an amazing mix, and although the brothers are all so strong and individual characters, they are also clearly a family, if they know it or not. I can't wait for the other brothers to meet their women, how they will come to terms with the fact that their family is vampires now, and to get to know them and Wellsie better. I'm also very curious what's to come of Butch and Marissa, and how Wrath and Beth will make themselves as royals and leaders, and how the whole living situation is going to work out. I also want to know about the different abilities that the brothers have, and to learn their background stories. There's just so much to discover!
Like the Scribe Virgin, who I think is just a little bit creepy. But I guess that's how god-like things are supposed to be? I was really surprised that she could, like, cross over, for real, appear into this world and not just be called upon in hers. I also believe she has a cruel streak, somewhere, and I'm a bit afraid to discover it. However, I also think that she is basically an instrument of good, so she'll surely be a big help in the fight against the Lesser and Omega.
