Area Info

When Detective Logan Riske goes undercover to find Pepper Yates, a potential link to his best friend's unsolved murder, he vows to gain her cooperation by any means necessary. But the elusive beauty is more suspicious—and in far more danger—than he expected. And the last thing Logan needs is to start caring for her….

Pepper has spent years dodging the corrupt club owner who will stop at nothing to keep her silenced. She can trust no one, not even the handsome new "construction worker" who's moved in next door. The heat between them is undeniable. But will surrendering to passion bring her the safety she so desires—or will her feelings for Logan draw them both into a killer's crosshairs?

Rogue Chronicles Entry No. 22

From all the Lori Foster novels I read so far, this one had the least interesting beginning. The set up was okay, and the plot was pretty good, just very much like her, but it just didn't quite capture until around the last third. Just a little week for the beginning of a new series, but you find definitively enough potential in all the characters that get introduced. Maybe it was a bit much to all fit into one installment.

However, this one was a special treat in the smut department, since Pepper's beginning circumstances added quite some complication to the matter, but it sure was something that cannot be to everyone's tastes. For example it wasn't for me, not really anyway. But of course that might just be the exact turn on for someone else, so I'm definitively not downgrading there. I respect and appericiate the step into more fetish related territory.

As for the characters, I sure liked Pepper a lot. Obidient and rule-breaking at the same time, she was just awesome. And how she tried so hard to just use Logan! Gotta love her! =)
Logan, on the other hand... He didn't strike me as too great a character, I can't say why exactly. There was just nothing I found special on his case. I thought Rowdy as well as Reese were way more interesting personalities. And I am so looking forward to their own stories! Because the women who've already gotten involved with them sure seem very interesting as well. =)
