Vanity Baker loves a good, clean match, but she's not above playing a little dirty. She's wanted Stack "The Wolf" Hannigan from day one. Seems as though the best way to corral the famously commitment-phobic fighter is to insist on keeping it casual. And her plan works--deliciously well--until Stack's past steps out of the shadows.
Stack learned early to stay free of attachments. But with sexy, forthright Vanity, he's the one always left wanting more. Then his troublemaking family comes back into the picture, threatening everything Stack cares about--Vanity included. Suddenly he realizes they're much more than friends with benefits. He's ready to go to the mat for her…but will it be in time to protect the woman who's tamed him for good?

Rogue Chronicles Entry
Why I picked this story up:
I've already said it in my review of Holding Strong: I was bursting with anticipation for this one, my mind running wild imagening the hottest and most teasing things! The way Vanity had Stack reeling already was just so hot! Plus, I thought the two of them would also be fun.
What I found:
For the love of... YES! Tough Love is Lori Foster at her finest!
Stack and Vanity were as hot together as I imagined them to be, and just as much fun. And it's not just because Stack's starting into this story with a harsh case of blue balls!
"You've been celibate?" She said that with a lot of skepticism.
"If it sounds unbelievable from your view, you should try it from mine."
That's partly because Vee put a date stamp on his next lay (even if she didn't mean to, he's a good guy, after all!), and then real life got in his way. Poor bastard, I totally suffered with him. Vanity was so straight forward about wanting him, it's really impressive that Stack didn't lose his cool halfway through her teasing. Makes him a real badass in my eyes, and I swear he got hotter every time Vanity ate him up with her eyes. Amazeballs!
But these two weren't just hot as hell, they were also perfectly right for each other. I didn't expect Stack to be such a family man, but it fit him well. Him and Denver are definitvely on the same wavelength there. I liked both, Stack's mom and his sister, and the way they made him go a little nuts. The man is a big hunk of adorable. It's so sweet that he's grown up with that much love and is trying to find it for himself, too. And Vanity, with her beautiful and lonely soul (and no head-in-the-sand routine for her!), fit that bill perfectly. So after they checked hot, they checked sweet. Which combines to downright swoonworthy in my book!
But of course there's trouble in paradise. I like that all the Ultimate stories are more on the family front, even trouble wise, and Vanity's background as well as Stack's family situation were great material to work with, and Foster rocked it. All those little missed windows and misunderstandings that just happen in life, and that can cost you so much if you're not careful, yet they also make a relationship that much stronger if you manage to work through them. It was just the right amount of everything without going too far into cliches, although it didn't exactly bring anything new. It was kept simple, close to reality, and very well balanced.
But not just Stack and Vanity were amazing, so were the rest of the team. The guys banding together like a mob to protect their girls, and how they all checked up on Vee when she needed it. Loved it! You can't help but love these guys if they reveal their awesomess with stupid little things like manners during a football game:
Stack looked at the beers and Cokes sitting on coasters, and the big bowl full of nachos -- without a single crumb on the coffee table. It was like stepping into the land of Oz or something.
And it's so much fun, too! All the guys are just so awesome, like Reese' big brother routine... I'm a bit worried about Armie and Rissy, though. Armie is so conflicted, just the few glimpses hurt. So I'm fairly certain Fighting Dirty will make me cry and scream. And on that note: GIMME!!!
