Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her.
His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.
But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.
For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.

Rogue Chronicles Entry No. 101

Title & Cover: I like the Raven with his fiery heart, and the title is definitvely making curious. Love the double meaning, and the symbolism in it, too.

Characters: Blue wasn't a very exceptional heroine, except for her weird talent of lending power to anything magical or supernatural, but she was a sweet, straight-forward girl who was just downright lovable.
The boys were awesome characters, though. I am not so fond of Gansey yet, because he still reads like the odd one out, although he is very driven and loyal, but I believe that he and Blue will both change over the books so that they will make a very nice pairing. Adam, Noah and Ronan were the dramatic, troubled souls in this, and I liked all of their stories so far. There's still a lot left to discover, especially with Ronan, and I'm really looking forward to it! I also believe they will all find their peace along the way to Glendower, one way or the other.

Plot: It started out a bit slowly, as we get to have glimpse from almost all the characters, and it takes a while for the boys to meet Blue, so that all protagonists are together. However, those first chapters already give rather deep insight in the characters, so it wasn't a dread to read.
Once she show is on the road, everything picks up speed, and it's magical and astounding and dramatic. Love it! The plot twists were good, although partially predictable, and for that I was a little surprised about the cliffhanger which wasn't like I-scream-my-head-off-coz-you-just-CANT-stop-there, but in a way that shows that all four books of this series will be very connected, a fluent succesional read.

Overall: Love the concept, love the characters, was surprised by the ending, and can't wait for more!
