I Challenged Myself to
2014 Reading ChallengeZessi has completed her goal of reading 120 books!
|
My 2014 Reading Challenge is set on 85 books, including mangas. I thought one book a week and the 30 mangas I managed the last two years, plus some extras... see how it will go.
On 1/6 I added 35 books, coming to 120 overall to reads from the Manga May Challenge. The count runs on Goodreads.com. |
2014 Hard Heart Reading Challenge
This challenge is aiming to help clear some books you've been pushing around on your tbr for a while off your ever-growing pile. This year, the goal is to get one problem child each month. The challange is running here on The Book Rogue. This is my challenge list.
2014 Witches & Witchcraft Reading Challenge
In this witchy challenge, it's all about magic and sorcery. I don't have particular goal for this, just want to see what comes up over the year. Here's my sign up post, where I will also link my rewiews to.

2014 Fur & Fangs Reading Challenge
Since I have a lot of Vamp books on my pile, this sounds like some might get done over the year. I set a loose goal to 10 books for starters, but no pressure on this one. Here's my sign-up post, where I will also link my reviews.

And then there was...
... my very first real job as a translator! YES! My first project was a novella, The Island by Jen Minkman, now available as Die Insel in German. =)
.. alot of struggle moneywise, regardless. It's not so easy to be standing on your own two feet in a job like mine. But there was also alot of moving forward, just like the chinese year predicted. 😉
... us going to the musical Phantom of the Opera which was an amazing experience! I can only recommend it. It's the only thing cultural we do, musicals, but we love doing it. =)
... some visits to and from old friends, and I'm so happy they happend, although the time was way too short, as always when you're having fun. I hope we can keep in touch properly.
... our seventh anniversary as a couple was in August. I could barely believe it myself. Seven years! People keep telling us it's a long time for a young couple like us, especially without getting married or having kids like everyone around us. ^.^
... Shelley, the eldest kid of our group, entered Junior High, the same one I used to go to. So I met many old teachers and could chat some. It was nice, but it also made me feel a bit old. x)
... my first visit to the huge Book Fair in Frankfurt. It was way too much to take in, but it was an experience, that's for sure! I vowed to be more active on my German blog, reading books by German authors.
