Area Info

Zoey is finally home where she belongs, safe with her Guardian Warrior, Stark, by her side, and preparing to face off against Neferet - which would be a whole lot easier if the High Counsel saw the ex-High Priestess for what she really is. Kalona has released his hold on Rephaim, and, through Nyx's gift of a human form, Rephaim and Stevie Rae are finally able to be together - if he can truly walk the path of the Goddess and stay free of his father's shadow...
But there are new forces at work at the House of Night. An influx of humans, including Lenobia's handsome horse whisperer, threatens their precarious stability. And then there's the mysterious Aurox, a jaw-droppingly gorgeous teen boy who is actually more - or possibly less - than human. Only Neferet knows he was created to be her greatest weapon. But Zoey can sense the part of his soul that remains human, the compassion that wars with his Dark calling. And there's something strangely familiar about him...
Will Neferet's true nature be revealed before she succeeds in silencing them all? And will Zoey be able to touch Aurox's humanity in time to protect him - and everyone - from his own fate?

Rogue Chronicles Entry No. 25

Aurox was an awesome new twist, it'll be very interesting to find out what kind of complications this is going to bring in the next installment, because so far it wasn't all that messed up just yet. Maybe I'm a masochist, but with how this story went so far, I think there just wasn't enough drama and blood involved from Aurox's side. I felt my heart going crazy when he was in scene with Zoey, always hoping she would recognize his soul, and eager to know what would happen then. When it happened then, I was a little disappointed with the timing, and because it was kinda... left hanging in the air, so I feel the need to stay on my toes for what's going to happen further in the 10th installment.

The Stevie Rae, Rephaim and Kalona mess was another thing. It was somewhat... too easily resolved? with Thanatos involved and all (Thank Nyx that vamp High Priestess showed up! I really, really love her as a character.) Well, I thought it was good that it wasn't too much drama for once, but I'm not so sure I trust the whole solution just yet. It will sure be interesting to see what kind of conflicts this new development is bound to bringt to the Depot.

Oh, and cowboy Travis was a nice additon to the pack! I understand he was brought in by Neferet to cause chaos, especially in Lenobia's heart, but I think she underestimted Nyx's love for her children, because I firmly believe the goddess meddled just enough to send Lenobia her long lost soul mate/consort. 😉 The horse mistress simply has to trust in her goddess and open her heart again, and everything will be perfect. Travis is such a sweetheart, how could he not be one of the good guys?!

All in all, still sooo much to be resolved and to see where stuff is headed. I almost start doubting that there'll be a happy ending to this, but since we're talking HoN here, there definitively is going to be one, no matter how dark and desperate things seem along the way. Looking forward to the next installment!
