My Review:

Big fan of House of Night series, can't get enough of it. Even though this book kind of covers nothing in storyline, really nothing much (the first books covered a longer period of time), I still sucked it in. It made it seem more intense, though, which on the other hand was great. I like the style and the story, yet I missed the humor that was a lot more present in the previous books. On the other hand, there were only rare oppotunities for jokes, so I think it was quite ok, any more forced fun might've just spoiled the atmosphere. All in all, it was a great sequel and after 4 books of intense tension, here is now a bit of time to take a breath and brace for the upcoming novels and all the crazy plot twists they're about to bring.

Style: 4/5 -- Plot: 3.5/5 -- Characters: 4/5 -- Suspense: 4.5/5 -- Humor: 1/5 -- Fantasy: 3.5/5

Overall Rating: 4 Hoods

Quotes I liked:

"She may come with me," Darius said, unsuccessfully trying to hide a smile. "I'll get a sleeping bag for her. I do not believe she will be much trouble, and I like to keep her close to me."
"Not much trouble?" I said. Stevie Rae and I raised our brows at him. I swear his high, chiseled cheeks blushed just a smidgen of pink.
"He must be thinkin' of another Aphrodite. One we don't know," Stevie Rae said.
(pg. 54)

"Come on." Aphrodite took Darius's hand and pulled him off the bed. "You're not going back to your room tonight."
"I'm not?" he said, smiling warmly at her.
"No, you're not. There seems to be a scarcity of Sons of Erebus around here, so I'm going to keep my eyes, and a few other parts of my body, on you."
(pg. 218)

"Now that scares me," Stark said.
"What scares you?"
"Chicks' purses. Or at least all the weird stuff you people keep inside of them."
"Us people? Jeesh. We're girls, and purses just have girl stuff in them." His normal-sounding guyness was making me smile.
"There's no just about purse stuff," he said. And I swear I felt him shudder. [...] "For instance, here you are this macho, dangerous, warrior guy who can't miss anything he shoots at, but you're totally squeed out by girls' purses? It's like they're your spiders."
He chuckled. "My spiders? What's that supposed to mean?"
"Well, I don't like spiders. At all." I shuddered like he'd just done.
"Oh, I get it. Yeah, purses are my spiders. Really big spiders you can open up and they're filled with a whole nest of baby spiders."
(pg. 236-237, Zoey & Stark)

"Okay, so it's not just Stevie Rae that's making you look like you need some pharmaceutical help to cheer up." Then her brows raised as she continued to study me. "Oh, I get it. You're having boyfriend issues. Or shoul I say boyfriends issues?"
"Sadly, the plural seems to be the correct form of the word," I muttered. [...] "I know, and I'm not." I sighted. "I have a lot to deal with when this mess is over."
"Seriously. You have a mess to deal with when this mess is over."
(pg. 259-260, Zoey & Aphrodite)

"My body won't be with you at all time, but you'll always have my heart. I'm your warrior, remember?"
I smiled and touched his cheek. "I'll never forget. I promise. I'm your High Priestess and you've pledged yourself to me. That means you have my heart, too."
"Then both of us better stay safe. A heart's a hard thing to live without. I should know. I've tried it," he said.
(pg. 277, Zoey & Stark)

"You had another vision," I said.
She nodded.
"Ah, crap. Did I get killed again?"
(pg. 291, Zoey & Aphrodite)
