Dante has a shiny new cuff wrapped around his ankle, and he doesn't like that mess one bit. His new accessory comes straight from Big Guy himself and marks the former demon as a liberator. Despite his gritty past and bad boy ways, Dante Walker has been granted a second chance.
When Dante is given his first mission as a liberator to save the soul of seventeen-year-old Aspen, he knows he’s got this. But Aspen reminds him of the rebellious life he used to live and is making it difficult to resist sinful temptations. Though Dante is committed to living clean for his girlfriend Charlie, this dude’s been a playboy for far too long… and old demons die hard.
With Charlie becoming the girl she was never able to be pre-makeover and Aspen showing him how delicious it feels to embrace his inner beast, Dante will have to go somewhere he never thought he’d return to in order to accomplish the impossible: save the girl he’s been assigned to, and keep the girl he loves.

Rogue Chronicles Entry No. 117

After reading The Collector and finding out Dante wasn't all he was hyped up to be, I wasn't so sure about picking up the sequel. However, I wanted to find out more about Dante's & Charlie's sweet love and Dante's new job as a Liberator. I was pretty sure this would get some fine laughs out of me. And of course I was curious who and how badshit this "bad girl" was going to be. Well... maybe I shouldn't have been all that surprised that bad girl Aspen isn't all that bad after all, just a little conflicted and off track. No one could blame her with that family, but she has a good heart, so I definitvely get why Dante is supposed to save her soul for the heavens. She was quite badass, though, jeez the woman had ideas...! I liked her. 😉

I also liked that the other characters where still as present as in the first book, and that this had some really, REALLY nice surprises relationship-wise. I'm not gonna spoil any fun, but let me just say that I smelled that winged jackass falling for the Amazon in the red dress. Hotness. ^^ And Aspen's soon-to-be other half? Double awesome. I missed a bit of Val x Max in this, but I'm sure when this is all over, they'll be all happily ever after, too.

Storywise... Hm, not so sure. Guess like the first book, it was a bit of a drag through parts. Usually you have the feeling that you don't get enough insight in a character, but with Dante it feels a bit more like "Shaddup and get a move on" for me. Not so nice... BUT! it was rather nice overall, I liked the plot twists and how the trip to hell was made up. Really awesome to cook something like this up! The action was nice, too. And then that ending? Nicely done, just as at the end of The Collector. Makes you want to read the last installment anyway.
