"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
Title: Bleed Like Me
Author: Christa Desir
Language: English
Expected Publication: October 7, 2014
Summary:
Seventeen-year-old Amelia Gannon (just "Gannon" to her friends) is invisible to almost everyone in her life. To her parents, to her teachers-even her best friend, who is more interested in bumming cigarettes than bonding. Some days the only way Gannon knows she is real is by carving bloody lines into the flesh of her stomach.
Then she meets Michael Brooks, and for the first time, she feels like she is being seen to the core of her being. Obnoxious, controlling, damaged, and addictive, he inserts himself into her life until all her scars are exposed. Each moment together is a passionate, painful relief.
But as the relationship deepens, Gannon starts to feel as if she's standing at the foot of a dam about to burst. She's given up everything and everyone in her life for him, but somehow nothing is enough for Brooks--until he poses the ultimate test.
Bleed Like Me is a piercing, intimate portrayal of the danger of a love so obsessive it becomes its own biggest threat.
Why I am looking forward to this: This sounds very painful, conflicted, and even a little creepy. And it's certainly not your everyday story (unless it has a happy ending, and I very much hope it doesn't!!).
I haven't heard of this one but it sounds like a really serious story. I like stories that deal with some serious issues so I should add this one to my list. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Yeah, it certainly sounds creepy and a little twisted (is it bad I want to read it because of that?) Probably.

I'm really hoping this is going to be about why these kinds of "obnoxious, controlling, damaged, and addictive" guys are NOT OKAY! I am so sick of reading YA about how girls are so messed up, end up with a total jerk (who would end up in jail for domestic abuse in real life), and love him anyway. For example, Beautiful Disaster. Please, please let this book be about her finding herself and ditching the jerk! Okay, rant over. The cover is pretty...

Wow, this sounds like a really intense book, but one that I think a lot of people will be able to relate to, or will get sucked into, emotionally. I'm already curious, and nervous as to what will happen to this girl! My WoW.
