"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine,
that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Title: Inbetween
Series: Kissed by Death 1
Author: Tara A. Fuller

Language: English
Publisher: Entangled Select
Format: Paperback
Expected Publication: August 14, 2012

Summary:

Since the car crash that took her father’s life three years ago, Emma’s life has been a freaky—and unending—lesson in caution. Surviving “accidents” has taken priority over being a normal seventeen-year-old, so Emma spends her days taking pictures of life instead of living it. Falling in love with a boy was never part of the plan. Falling for a reaper who makes her chest ache and her head spin? Not an option.
It’s not easy being dead, especially for a reaper in love with a girl fate has put on his list not once, but twice. Finn’s fellow reapers give him hell about spending time with Emma, but Finn couldn’t let her die before, and he’s not about to let her die now. He will protect the girl he loves from the evil he accidentally unleashed, even if it means sacrificing the only thing he has left...his soul.

Why I am lurking on this: Another Reaper story I found, and it sounds just as awesome as the others. I'm already rooting for Finn, just from the summary!

Title: Dearly, Departed
Series: Gone With the Respiration 1
Author: Lia Habel

Language: English
Publisher: Del Rey
Format: Paperback
Expected Publication: August 14, 2012

Summary:

Love conquers all, so they say. But can Cupid’s arrow pierce the hearts of the living and the dead—or rather, the undead? Can a proper young Victorian lady find true love in the arms of a dashing zombie?
The year is 2195. The place is New Victoria—a high-tech nation modeled on the manners, mores, and fashions of an antique era. A teenager in high society, Nora Dearly is far more interested in military history and her country’s political unrest than in tea parties and debutante balls. But after her beloved parents die, Nora is left at the mercy of her domineering aunt, a social-climbing spendthrift who has squandered the family fortune and now plans to marry her niece off for money. For Nora, no fate could be more horrible—until she’s nearly kidnapped by an army of walking corpses.
But fate is just getting started with Nora. Catapulted from her world of drawing-room civility, she’s suddenly gunning down ravenous zombies alongside mysterious black-clad commandos and confronting “The Laz,” a fatal virus that raises the dead—and hell along with them. Hardly ideal circumstances. Then Nora meets Bram Griswold, a young soldier who is brave, handsome, noble . . . and dead. But as is the case with the rest of his special undead unit, luck and modern science have enabled Bram to hold on to his mind, his manners, and his body parts. And when his bond of trust with Nora turns to tenderness, there’s no turning back. Eventually, they know, the disease will win, separating the star-crossed lovers forever. But until then, beating or not, their hearts will have what they desire.

Why I am lurking on this: I wasn't so sure about this at first, because zombies are always such a thin line for me, but the summary for the second book encouraged me to give this series a go.

  1. I really liked Dearly Departed but I haven't read the sequel yet. Steampunk zombie is a mix that works. As for Inbetween, I have that to read, but I'm not a fan of this cover. I like reaper books though, so it should be alright.

    My WOW

  2. Oh Dearly, Departed is quite interesting. I've read it, it's actually the first book I ever won from a giveaway and now I'm about to read book 2. I hope you like it when you get it.
