"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine,
that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Title: The Dark Light
Author: Sara Walsh
Language: English
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Format: Hardcover
Expected Publication: August 28, 2012
Summary:
Mia is torn between two guys -- and two worlds -- in this epic, romantic fantasy. Mysterious lights have flickered above Crownsville for as long as Mia can remember. And as far as she's concerned, that's about the only interesting thing to happen in her small town.
That is, until Sol arrives. Mia's not one to fall for just any guy, but she can't get Sol -- or the brilliant tattoo on his back -- out of her mind.
Then Mia's brother goes missing, and Mia's convinced that Sol knows more than he's sharing. But getting closer to Sol means reevaluating everything Mia once believed to be true. Because Sol's not who Mia thought he was -- and neither is she.
Why I am lurking on this: The cover is just so damn sexy, I don't need any other reason! However, the story might turn out quite interesting, and I actually like the names Mia and Sol. ^.^

Title: Shift
Series: Firstborn 2
Author: Raine Thomas
Language: English
Publisher: lambe Books
Format: eBook
Expected Publication: August 24, 2012
Summary:
Having the ability to shapeshift, Sophia is familiar with change. But even she feels the rising tension in her homeland.
A shadowy male and deadly beast reside in their midst. The births of the newest Kynzesti loom. Hostile Mercesti continue to hunt for the Elder Scroll, and a traumatized female is too afraid to use her abilities to stop them.
Topping off Sophia’s stress is Quincy, the male she’s convinced can’t stand her. She rues the loss of their friendship, but can’t figure out how to move past it. She’ll soon learn, however, that mending that rift bears more significance than she ever imagined.
The search for the Elder Scroll takes on unexpected urgency, and Sophia finds herself in a race across the mainland. To stop the Mercesti led by Eirik, she and her companions must get past their differences and unite against them. If they don’t, Eirik will acquire the immense power he seeks, and two of the beings Sophia loves most will die.
Why I am lurking on this: I loved the first one, Defy, and I am very eager to see Tate and Zachariah again. However, it seems this is written more from Sophia's perspective, and although I liked her well enough, I hope that all characters get equal parts.
The Dark Light looks hot! Epic, romantic fantasy! I haven't read Defy but the series sounds awesome!

I think I'm most excited for The Dark Light! It sounds like a good read, provided that the first line doesn't translate to a love triangle. 😛 Great pick!

Both books sound great. I have The Dark Light on my to-read list but I haven't read the first book in Firstborn series so I'll have to check that one out first. Great picks.
Come check out my WOW.

Dark Light was my pick from last week! I can't wait for it! 😀
My WoW
The Dark Light does sound like a good one, I'm looking forward to giving that a try too. But I couldn't get into Defy so I won't be reading this series 🙁

I admit Defy was a little confusing in the beginning, too much information to keep reading on smoothly. But I weaseled my way through the mess, and it payed off for me. It had a very nice mix of characters which all had a lot of potential.
Hello cover of the Dark Light 😀
And btw, I am reading Shift right now. Slowly, but so far, yes, all characters are getting book time. And Zachariah is right smack there at the beginning, like, on page 2, haha. He is so epic and of course already disagreeing with Tate (they are so funny to me) 😀
Awesome choices, Caro 🙂
