"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine,
that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Title: Juliet Immortal
Author: Stacey Jay

Language: English
Publisher:
Ember
Format: Paperback
Expected Publication: September 11, 2012

Summary:

The most tragic love story in history . . .
Juliet Capulet didn't take her own life. She was murdered by the person she trusted most, her new husband, Romeo Montague, a sacrifice made to ensure his own immortality. But what Romeo didn't anticipate was that Juliet would be granted eternity, as well, and would become an agent for the Ambassadors of Light. For 700 years, she's fought Romeo for the souls of true lovers, struggling to preserve romantic love and the lives of the innocent. Until the day she meets someone she's forbidden to love, and Romeo, oh Romeo, will do everything in his power to destroy that love.

Why I am lurking on this: Romeo killed Juliet to become immortal? Hello, awesome! Since R+J is probably the greatest love story in the history of mankind, this is like rape of that story, and I want to know how that turns out. Thus, this became one of my very few pre-orders!

Title: The Brides of Rollrock Island
Author: Margo Lanagan

Language: English
Publisher:
Knopf Books for Young Readers
Format: Hardcover
Expected Publication: September 11, 2012

Summary:

On remote Rollrock Island, men go to sea to make their livings—and to catch their wives.
The witch Misskaella knows the way of drawing a girl from the heart of a seal, of luring the beauty out of the beast. And for a price a man may buy himself a lovely sea-wife. He may have and hold and keep her. And he will tell himself that he is her master. But from his first look into those wide, questioning, liquid eyes, he will be just as transformed as she. He will be equally ensnared. And the witch will have her true payment.
Margo Lanagan weaves an extraordinary tale of desire, despair, and transformation. With devastatingly beautiful prose, she reveals characters capable of unspeakable cruelty, but also unspoken love.

Why I am lurking on this: I found this in a WoW some time ago, and it instantly captivated me. Siren and zombie stories are really drawing me in lately, but this just sounds epic!
